Saturday, February 14 - Valentine's Day

A day off! I spent it with Hans Hamoen from World Partners.....had brunch in de Kater a great "pub/cafe" in Wageningen where we sat at big tables with others but where there were fireplace seats and even outside tables warm enough today for us to start there until the gas heaters died. That pub was in same town as the amazing restaurant last night where Kees Boele and I ate a 10 course dinner in the place where the Germans surrendered to the Allies in the Netherlands. We in Arnhem famous for the "Bridge Too Far"....arched photo below. We drove along the dike for miles on this warm sunny day. Took a ferry across the Rhine and stopped at the small church where the British staged before crossing the Rhine in defeat at that sad battle for the bridge..... I walked into Ede from the hotel, saw hundreds of bikes parked near the train station, a classic windmill and beautiful houses (expensive too....averaging $500,000 in this town..one of the wealthiest in Holland I'm told. Some pictures of my day.
